The Bloomsburg School of Dance showcases a Competitive Dance team that continues to grow every year. We offer different levels for students to compete based on age, skill level, and experience. Our teams work closely with skilled instructors to prepare each routine and ensure every number is competition ready. We welcome and encourage everyone to try out for our competitive dance team and join us in traveling to competitions where we showcase the talent and skills of our dancers.
Tiny Team will focus on the Acrobatics (Acro) style of Dance. Students must be enrolled in Cirque Style Acrobatics. Practice is held weekly for 10 minutes following the acrobatics technique class. This group will compete in 2-3 competitions a year.
Our Mini team offers three styles of dance - Ballet, Jazz, and Acrobatics. There will be a bi-weekly team practice every other Thursday from 6:00p.m. to 6:30p.m. (**Schedule subject to change**) throughout the competition season to practice and perfect the group routines. This group will compete in 3 competitions a year.
Our Petite team offers 4 different styles of competitive dance - Ballet, Lyrical, Jazz, and Acrobatics. Students will be placed in a max of 3 routines based off their skill assessment at tryouts. Practices will be held weekly on Thursdays from 6:00p.m - 7:30p.m. (**subject to change**) throughout the competition season. This level will compete in 5 competitions a year.
Our Junior/Senior Team is offered 5 styles of competitive Dance - Ballet, Lyrical OR Modern/Contemporary, Jazz, Acrobatics, and Tap. The routines will be chosen based on skills. This group will compete in 5 competitions a year.
Students competing on group teams may be eligible to compete as a soloist if evaluated as well as if they have previous competition experience. A competition dance instructor will assist in choosing what style each student will compete in as a soloist. Then students will work 1:1 with their instructor to learn and perfect their routine, where they then will be able to go on stage alone against students in similar age divisions at competitions. Beginner Competition Level Dancers will be limited to one solo, and Intermediate Competition Level Dancers will be limited to two solos a season.
* Please note that a choreography fee of $200-$300 per routine will be charged depending on the choreographer. Students will then be able to continue with private lessons throughout the season to adjust, practice, and perfect their solo routines. Private lessons will be scheduled every other Thursday with their designated instructor.
We will be holding tryouts for our 2025-2026 competition season on May 13, 2025 and May 15, 2025 from 6:00p.m - 8:00p.m.
These days are mandatory for staff to assess your dancer's skill level in order to adequately place them on a team.
There will be a registration deposit required from each participating competition dancer. This fee will be divided among the competitions your dancer is participating in and credited towards your balance due for each competition.
This fee will be due no later than August 1, 2025
PETITE/ADVANCE TEAM DEPOSIT: $250 - BEGINNER TEAM DEPOSIT: $150 - TINY TEAM DEPOSIT: $75
After evaluated and placed in their level, students will be welcome to sign up for our Choreography Camp running from July 7, 2025 through July 11, 2025. The cost will be $90 per routine that your dancer is in. This payment is for the choreography that our skilled teachers will be putting together that will be used for competition season. At this camp dancers will learn the choreography for each routine they are participating in to ensure smooth practices throughout the year. Dancer's will only need to sign up for the days of Choreography week that include the styles they are participating in.
