The Bloomsburg School of Dance showcases a Competitive Dance team that continues to grow every year. We offer different levels for students to compete based on age, skill level, and experience. Our teams work closely with skilled instructors to prepare each routine and ensure every number is competition ready. We welcome and encourage everyone to try out for our competitive dance team and join us in traveling to competitions where we showcase the talent and skills of our dancers.
Tiny Team will focus on the Acrobatics (Acro) style of Dance. Students must be enrolled in Cirque Style Acrobatics. Practice is held weekly for 10 minutes following the acrobatics technique class. This group will compete in 2-3 competitions a year.
Our Mini team offers four styles of dance - Ballet, Jazz, and Acrobatics and tap. Students will be placed in a max of 3 routines based off their skill assessment at tryouts. Each discipline will have a biweekly practice for 30 minutes on Thursdays.(Two disciplines will meet one week, two the next week, and this schedule will continue to rotate.) Students competing on group teams may be eligible to compete as a soloist if evaluated as well as if they have previous competition experience. A competition dance instructor will assist in choosing what style each student will compete in as a soloist. Then students will work 1:1 with their instructor to learn and perfect their routine, where they then will be able to go on stage alone against students in similar age divisions at competitions. Beginner Competition Level Dancers will be limited to one solo, and Intermediate Competition Level Dancers will be limited to two solos a season.
* Please note that a choreography fee will be assessed and charged depending on the choreographer. Students will then be able to continue with private lessons throughout the season to adjust, practice, and perfect their solo routines. Private Lessons will be scheduled on Thursdays throughout the dance season.
