The Bloomsburg School of Dance has a dress code that students are required to follow. This dress code is in place to ensure the safety and comfort of students, as well as to present them in the best possible way while in the studio. Following the dress code helps create a professional and cohesive environment for dance training.
We are always excited to see boys join our classes, no matter the style. Our boys have their own specific dress code.
For ballet, contemporary, and lyrical, boys should wear black fitted tights/leggings/compression pants, a black fitted shirt, black socks and black ballet slippers.
For jazz, tap, and hip-hop boys should wear black jogger style pants (or shorts if summer classes are taken), any color fitted shirt, and black jazz shoes (or the appropriate tap or hip-hop shoes).
For acrobatics class, boys should wear black joggers (or black shorts) and a fitted shirt of any color. No shoes are worn in this class.
** Please note, around age 10 boys should start wearing a male dancers belt with their leggings/dance pants - for any questions please reach out to staff **
Our Twinkle Star dancers are allowed to wear any color leotard they wish.
Footless or stirrup tights should be worn for acrobatics class, and footed tights should be worn for classes requiring shoes.
Twinkle Star dancers are allowed to wear skirts and tutus to class if they wish.
We ask that during ballet class, hair is placed in a bun at the crown of the head. For all other classes, please ensure hair is tied up and out of the way.
Dancers should wear appropriate shoes - ordered through the studio - for the class(es) they are attending.
Star-Styled dancers enrolled in Rockette Style or Hip-Hop Style may wear any color leotard or unitard they wish. Footed or convertible tights are required for Rockette Style.
During Cirque Style acrobatics, dancers should footless or stirrup tights of any color. Leotards of any color should be worn.
For ballet class, students should wear a leotard and ballet pink tights. Ballet shoes, purchased through the studio, should also be worn.
Furthermore, ballet students should hair should be placed in a bun at the crown of the head. We ask that for other classes hair is simply pulled up out of the eyes and face. Dance skirts are permitted to be worn in this level.
Dancers should wear the appropriate shoes - purchased through the studio - to every class.
Once students graduate to the "Beginner level" classes and above, dress code becomes a bit more strict.
We ask that during ballet classes, students wear a black leotard, ballet pink tights, and appropriate ballet shoes. Black dance sweaters are the only color permitted for ballet classes. Hair should be pulled into a bun on the crown of the head.
Skirts of any kind are not permitted in this class. Leg warmers that are pink in color are permitted.
Students enrolled in hip-hop may wear leggings (or anything form-fitting) and a top.
For all other classes, students may wear any color leotard they desire. Hair should be pulled up and out of the way.
We ask that for classes requiring shoes, students wear footed tights or convertible tights, and for acrobatics class students should wear footless or stirrup tights. Appropriate shoes - ordered through the studio. -should be worn for every class.
* Please note: It is recommended that around ages 8-10 female dancers begin wearing a dance bra which we can order for our dancers. Please reach out to staff with any questions **
For our adult students, those who have completed high school but still want to continue their dance journey:
Attire: A tight-fitting shirt and leggings are required. Corresponding dance shoes (may be purchased through the studio, but not required to be) are also required.
Hair: Pulled back/out of one's face
