The Bloomsburg School of Dance has a dress code that students are required to follow. This dress code is in place to ensure the safety and comfort of students, as well as to present them in the best possible way while in the studio. Following the dress code helps create a professional and cohesive environment for dance training.
We are always excited to see boys join our classes, no matter the style. Our boys have their own specific dress code. For ballet, contemporary, and lyrical boys should wear black fitted tights/leggings/compression pants, a black fitted shirt, black socks and black ballet slippers.
For jazz, tap, and hip hop boys should wear black jogger style pants, any color fitted shirt, and black jazz shoes (or the appropriate tap or hip hop shoes).
For acro class boys should wear black joggers or black shorts and a fitted shirt of any color. No shoes are worn in this class.
** Please note, around age 10 boys should start wearing a male dancers belt with their leggings/dance pants - for any questions please reach out to staff **
Our Twinkle Star dancers are allowed to wear any Leo color as well as any tights color they feel most comfortable in. Footless tights should be worn for acrobatics class, and footed tights should be worn for classes requiring shoes. Twinkle Star dancers are allowed to wear skirts and Tutu’s to class if they wish.
We ask that during ballet class hair is placed in a bun at the crown of the head. For all other classes please ensure hair is tied up and out of the way. Dancers should wear appropriate shoes for the class they are attending.
Star-Styled Dancers are permitted to wear any color Leo or dance tights that they wish. We do ask that during acrobatics class dancers wear footless tights, and footed tights are worn for classes requiring shoes. Dancers should wear the appropriate shoes to every class.
For ballet class hair should be placed in a bun at the crown of the head. We ask that for other classes hair is simply pulled up out of the eyes and face. Dance Skirts are permitted to be worn in this level.
Once students graduate to the Beginner level classes and above, dress code becomes a bit more strict.
We ask that during ballet class students wear a black Leo, pink ballet tights, and appropriate ballet shoes. Black dance sweaters are the only color permitted for ballet classes. Hair should be pulled into a bun on the crown of the head.
Skirts of any kind are not permitted in this class. Leg warmers that are pink in color are permitted.
For all other classes, students may wear any color Leo they desire. Hair should be pulled up and out of the way. We ask that for classes requiring shoes students wear footed tights, and for acrobatics class students should wear footless tights. Appropriate shoes should be worn for every class.
** Please note: It is recommended that around ages 8-10 Female Dancers begin wearing a dancing bra which we can order for our dancers. Please reach out to staff with any questions **
Junior’s and Senior’s follow a similar dress code to School age students. For ballet classes, students are required to wear a black Leo, pink ballet tights, and have their hair in a bun at the crown of their head. Students in this age group are permitted to wear dance skirts if they wish to.
For all other classes any Leo color or color of tights is permitted. We ask that for acrobatics class footless tights are worn, and that footed tights are worn for classes requiring shoes. Students should wear the appropriate shoes each day in class. Hair in classes other than ballet should be worn up and out of the eyes and face.
